Valves of different materials

After the introduction of valves, let's go into today's key content. We will introduce the characteristics of valves made of different materials. Yes, as different metal materials are used in all aspects of automobile parts, the valve is no longer a single rubber material. Metal materials have been widely used in the valve. In the current market, rubber, steel and aluminum alloy valves are the most common. (price for reference only)

Rubber valve

As the most common valve, the lower cost makes the rubber valve widely assembled on the original wheel rim, and the cost of replacement in the future is also very low. The price of the three kinds of valve is the cheapest.

However, due to the inevitable aging problem of rubber material, the valve will gradually crack, deform and lose elasticity. When the vehicle is running, the rubber valve will swing back and forth with the centrifugal force, which will further promote the aging of rubber. Generally speaking, the service life of the rubber valve is 3-4 years, which is not much different from the service life of the tire. Therefore, it is recommended to replace the rubber valve together with the tire.

There are obvious differences in the weight of the three kinds of valves. Their weight will have a certain impact on the unsprung mass and dynamic balance of the vehicle (the smaller the unsprung mass is, the better the dynamic response and handling performance of the vehicle). Therefore, we weigh the three kinds of valves.

Steel valve

In order to avoid the aging problem of rubber valves, metal valves gradually appear in the market, and steel valves are one of them. Due to the change of material, the price of steel valve is much higher than that of rubber valve.

The service life of steel valve is two to three times that of rubber valve, which is mainly due to its metal material is not easy to be oxidized, and the metal valve also has better air tightness.

Considering the dynamic balance of the tire, more counterweights need to be installed on the wheel rim after installing the steel valve, which will increase the unsprung mass of the vehicle

Aluminum alloy valve

Aluminum valve also belongs to metal valve, its service life and air tightness are equivalent to steel valve, but the price is further rising. This is mainly because aluminum alloy is lighter than steel, which is undoubtedly more beneficial to the dynamic balance of the wheel.
